Blue Wing Solar Project

Located on 113 acres in San Antonio, Texas, the Blue Wing Solar Project is the largest photovoltaic solar energy facility in the state and one of the largest in the United States. The 14.4 megawatt project, which was commissioned in November 2010, provided 115 jobs at construction peak, generated more than 100,000 labor hours of construction work, and produced more than $2 million of spending within the local economy. The project continues to bene?t the area by creating tax revenues for local schools, the City of San Antonio and Bexar County.

CPS Energy, the largest purchaser of wind power of any municipally owned utility in the country, contracted to purchase the project’s electricity output under a 30-year power purchase agreement, demonstrating leadership for Texas in the utility scale solar marketing.

The Blue Wing Solar Project was developed and built by juwi solar Inc. (JSI) and is owned by Duke Energy Generation Services.
